The Grey Area

Hi Guys !
We started a new week of recording and its all shaping up nicely! REALLY great , I recorded guitars for 4 songs now and Henrik and Jonas have been tracking. Jonas have also started to rehearse a new song that we will record next week.

Jari went home to Norway and will be back a week before our next gigs in Sweden and Israel so in between those we will lay down the last of his basses on 4-5 songs… Rikard was here yesterday copying all the songs unto his harddrive so that he can sit at home rehearsing before it’s his turn.

After next wednesday we will take a break from the recording and go into writing/composing mode again for a couple of weeks and I think we will bring the camera into those situations as well. I will record some vocals in my homestudio as that’s where I feel the most comfortable and can create undisturbed.

Henrik came up with some really great ideas the other day for a new song that will be awesome, I’m sure.

I have to dig deeper into the lyrics and vocal-lines for a couple of days as well, something I do best by myself.

So there’s A LOT going on .

We will have a couple of competitions coming up in the next weeks where you will be able to win some cool merchandise and some other signed stuff… so be sure to check this space out for more specifics on that.

Hey friends . Another week that has been REALLY busy thats why we have no been updating that frequently….Sorry for that.

Anyways all songs with bass and drums are pretty much done , fantastic work by Jonas and Jari !!! I have been editing consolidating some guitars and whatever, dreaming of files and extensions, … but this week was pretty much all their effort. Yesterday we took the night off and went to play some Texas Hold’em together with the boys of In Flames and some other friends , Their album will surely kick your ass as well…

Hi all!

It’s monday and we’re back in business again after the weekend. Jari arrived last night, ready to continue his work with the bass. Today he nailed one of the songs me and Tom put down drums and guitars last week, called ‘You made us fall’. It turned out great! He’s a real monster. It’s unbelievable how awesome he his! (You’ll know when you hear the album.) Tomorrow we’re going to do more bass and drum recording, that I’m looking forward to!

Today went fuckin great , 2 tracks with Drums AND Guitars completed. So in total 5 songs with drums 4 with bass and 2 with guitars. Jari is coming on Sunday and we will continue with him on Monday morning . Man, I can’t wait until you here this guy playing Evergrey material. It at least blows me away : ) . I also think that Jonas has put down some REALLY amazing drum work, the new songs makes him shine as he makes everything so much more vivid and groovy . Rikard and Henrik are at home writing some more killer stuff so that we have more than enough to choose from whenever the time comes .

Also you can be sure that we put everything we have in us into this release as it feels like, not that it will be, our last album . Sort of feels like when we recorded the first album and we never really knew if we would be able to ever make one again. That kind of innocence, lust and urge to create something fantastic is somewhat overwhelming, something that I’d never thought we’d feel again.

Evergrey Studio Report Week 1 video

Hey just a short one to let you know that all is well and that things are proceeding greatly except for that little motherfucker of a song, i NEVER played guitar for such a long time …. Hate guitars now,,, but you’re gonna love it: )

So…

After yesterdays computer problems we are now up and running and things are going great !

Jonas and Jari already laid down the basics on a couple of songs and man! do they sound great together!

Tomorrow I will start recording guitars on a track called “Nothing is erased”  a tricky little bitch of a song. So much to think of when playing that it will probably take me much more time to complete that track alone, than what it took for Jonas and Jari to complete a couple of tracks. But hey , noone said it should be easy ; ).

Henrik’s at home composing some new stuff in his homestudio but he will be here tomorrow.

The recording of this album will probably also be a DVD with an in-depth look on how the whole recording went . with all the fuck-ups , conversations etc, It’s not going to be “some kind of monster” since we dont have the fundings, but nevertheless. More on that later.

Also , as you probably understand t he album won’t be out this year as expected, primarely cause of the reason that we have yet to decide on a label that we feel will fullfill our needs and demands but dont worry we are still in negotiations with a couple.

Hi friends

The ball is now rolling !

Everyday you will be able to read a small report on what has been going on in the studio that day.

Added to that, we will be uploading videofiles once week so that you can see and hear small excerpts of the songs and work we create .

Of course the first day started with some major computer problems. We had to sit and format harddrives for 5 hours which resulted in a not so creative mood.

Fucking computers I really have a Love/Hate relation to them. Even though everything seems to be working fine now I know that will change when I least expect it, It always does.

We have had some help from Fredrik Nordström from Studio Fredman . We decided we wanted some input on the initial setting of the sound from someone outside of Evergrey. We brought him in for one day and we managed to get a great sound out of every instrument.Perhaps it might not be the most easy-played sound but we know that it has everything we need for making it crush when you get your hands on it. Some of you might remember that Fredrik also mixed the Recreation Day album so he is not all new to us and vice versa.

Anyways tomorrow we hope to have some drums and bass recorded , you’ll be the first to know !

Hey !

We have now confirmed the first one of next years European Tours .

This will be a Co-Headlining tour together with German metal band Brainstorm. We will also bring along a special guest for these dates.  We are really looking forward to meeting all of you guys again!

Countries that are not covered in this tour will of course be visited by us later on in the year.

We are still writing heavily in our respective homestudios and things are starting to sound really epic, dark and of course fantastic, awesome and all that…  yeah whatever   ; ) We are having a blast doing it and it is nice to, for the first time in a while, feel that we have all the time we need to do this. So please be patient and don’t give up on us , it will be worth your wait !

Hi there !

Just wanted to give you a quick update on what’s been going on in Evergrey Camp during the last week.

After the first real vacation in 6 summers we all are back on track and feel really inspired to get back to writing.

Henrik’s been in Thailand, Rikard in Madrid, Jonas spent his summer in Sweden and I have been visiting my Mom in Gran Canaria, Spain .

Last week I was in Holland helping out Arjen Lucassen on a couple of songs on his upcoming album with Ayreon. That’s going to be a great album as always and I can assure you that my singing is quite diverse from what you are used to hear on the Evergrey albums, so be sure to check it out!

Jari became a father last week to a little girl by the name of Saga , so congratulations to the whole family!

We have 7 songs finsihed by now. I honestly think you all will be really excited when you finally will hear the end result cause what has been written so far is some really awesome music !

Label wise , we are still negotiating with 3 different ones and this time we will not sign anything until we are 100% sure and content with what we get.

Next week Jari will arrive and we will start to rehearse for real for the upcoming shows and album, Can’t wait to play live again since it has been a rather slow summer.

We are also working with a new business coordinator who’s job is to secure endorsement deals as well as give us suggestions on how we would be able to improve financially and strategically.

We have already a European tour booked for February but more details on this will of course come later.

All in all we are trying to get everything and everyone fired up in order to make sure this will be our best album ever!
